I love making photographs, deep, moody, burgeoning with bits and pieces of the people I work with. It's the considering of a person, the trying to see at least a few layers down who they are and how I want to show that in the photographic process.
I'm old enough to know that you plan each photoshoot down to the last detail. I've photographed enough to know that the best image is never the one you planned on making. That's the beauty of this whole endeavor, both photographer and subject feeling the thrill of something brand new and evocative. It's why I never get tired of learning more about this age old craft.
A few of my favorite photography quotes:
"No matter how slow the film, a spirit always stands still long enough for the photographer it has chosen." - Minor White
"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." - Dorthea Lange (American documentary photographer, 1895-1965)
"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever...it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." - Aaron Siskind
